Action around Bethlehem, Children with Disability

St Peter’s Sunday School children have supported this charity for some years.  See the ABCD website here.

A huge Thank you to all who so generously gave clothes for the children.  Lesley and Liz collected ten huge bags which they handed over to the charity’s founder.

All the clothes have been used at ‘the Sheepfold’ or  given to needy families with children who attend.

Handwritten underneath it says, ‘Thank You! Abeer will distribute the pens, stickers etc. They really were much appreciated. Stickers are nearly always used on heads, arms and legs – more fun than on paper!’ As you can see in the photos!

Overview of the support given by ABCD

The BASR is expanding its programmes. It is hoped that ABCD will be able to continue to support the existing programmes but will also be able to have an input with the expansion in the Southern Regions, Hebron area, where there is a great need as no help has been available to rehabilitate and integrate local children with disabilities.

In the south ABCD currently contributes to the salaries of a part time Physio and Occupational Therapist but it was apparent that they were needed to work full time.

The Red Crescent and the Municipality provide the premises for the outreach clinic. This will also house a Kindergarten for able bodied children in the area but will eventually accommodate the integration of disabled children to prepare them for regular school – work will have to be done with the regular schools who, at the moment, are reluctant to take them on.
